B&B's Barrel-Aged Manhattan

  • 1600 ml. Old Overholt Rye Whiskey (2 full a little more)
  • 400 ml. Dolin Rouge Vermouth
  • 10 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters
  • Tools:
  • 1 (2-liter) oak barrel (Make sure to seal the oak barrel as suggested by the manufacturer)
  • Mixing spoon
  • Small funnel
  • Mixing container
  • Measuring cup


  1. Combine rye, vermouth and bitters in mixing bowl. Stir gently
  2. Taste
  3. Use funnel and measuring cup to pour contents into the barrel
  4. Taste
  5. Store for 2 weeks
  6. Taste
  7. Continue to age and test weekly until desired flavor (should have a smooth, oaky flavor in 2-4 weeks for a new barrel, and 4-6 weeks for a mature barrel)
  8. Serve via spigot at your holiday party over a large ice cube with an orange peel garnish, or bottle for the perfect coworker holiday gift!
